No sleep mode activate!

The time is now 11 pm
and I have to be up in 4 hours to catch my plane...

I only started packing 2 hours ago.
You might ask "what an idiot move to start packing so late,
why in the world would you do that?"

Well, homework on top of homework,
and it had to be handed in before Sunday,
so that's why.
My teachers are very understanding human beings.............

I know I won't get nearly as much sleep when we land in Beijing.
So goodnight, I will now enjoy my 4 hours of sleep to the fullest.

Last minute stress

This Sunday there will be one week left before the departure for China...
Damn, lots o' stressing out!

I think in the last week I've packed and unpacked my suitcase around six times. I just can't seem to figure out what to bring along?
My scumbag teachers also seem to believe that handing out 3 major assignments for the week before we leave was the best idea ever. It wasn't if you ask me...
And to make matters worse; I recently found out that my trip to the Philippines in December will have to be cancelled, due to a shortened Christmas holiday. This means I won't get to see my family for a long time.

This sucks balls of course, so the trip to China helps my mood a bit :)

We got our temporary program for our stay in Beijing and Xi'an today, and of course sleeping is not a part of the program.
We have to be at Copenhagen airport at 7 o'clock in the morning! Which means I have to get up at 5...
*insert dying whale sound here*

My class and I will then be facing a grueling flight of over 10 hours, and a change of flights in Zurich.
But behold, we will then be in the glorious Beijing airport!
A bus will then pick us up at 5.30 am outside the airport, and we will be on our way to our hotel.
Not much time for resting though, as we will only be allowed a shower and some breakfeast before we depart for the Great Wall :D

The rest of the week will be spend blending in with the tourists, and visting temples, the olympic stadium, Tiananmen Square etc.

On the way to Shanghai we will take a detour to Xi'an to see the terracota warriors.
We're taking the overnight train to Xian. Heard a lot of rumours about people's belongings getting stolen, so I guess I'll have to sleep with one eye open O.O

Then we'll be in Shanghai again and the vacation will be over, school will start the day after we get there. My level of enthusiasm could perhaps be higher...

I'll try to make some updates when we land in Beijing, can't make any promises though, the Great Chinese Firewall might shut me down :p

Exams done!

The final exams are over, so I am freeeeee!
Last oral exam was yesterday

I was walking around shaking all day because I was so nervous!
I felt nauseous, I was sweating, and felt like I had the stomach flu.
It was almost like I'd been eating bad jiaozi

But on the bright side, now I have vacation until we leave for China in two months!
Excited much, oh yes I believe so!

Cheers, and have a nice summer!

Second payment craze!

The second part of the total payment for my China trip has now been made, which means there's only one thing left to do before i travel to China once more: find out what the hell I need to pack!
It sounds so simple, right?
But when you're in a state of complete euphoria, all the practical stuff that comes along with traveling sort of loses it's appeal. And I am also in the middle of my exams, so that means even less time to consider anything at all. Which means that I am absolutely at loss with what I need to do to prepare myself for the trip in August.

First things first, what do I need to pack?
Two things to take in to consideration while packing:

-I will definitely need clothes that fits the warm weather (Beijing and Shanghai are like saunas for Scandinavians!)

-I will definitely also need clothes that are compatible with the weather, but covers enough so that I won't get raped...

This calls for a round of shopping, perhaps I'll stop by H&M tomorrow. Sadly, my hard earned money just went to making the second payment, so I'll have to live on pasta with ketchup for the rest of the month... Oh dear it's going to be a long month...

As a way of handling the long wait for my departure, I have been gawking at pictures from the last trip. Thought I'd just put some in this post for the giggles, hope you enjoy :)

The bottle opener building in Shanghai,
also the highest buidling in China

My lovely, or not so lovely darling Andreas,
always goofing around

Bar Rouge:
First and last time Amanda and I went to a club during that trip.
I honestly need to realize that I am not a
clubbing person.
Though the drinks were good

Late night trip to both Burger King
and MackyD's

Chillin' at the bottle openers cafe, very expensive food that needed to be documented

Our trip to Huanshang Mountain.
Exhausting, but so worth it

Not going to miss the horribly long journeys by bus though

Nor will I miss the sticks, though I think I got quite
good at using them after a while.
Who am I kidding; I was a freaking ninja with those things!

The amazing class that made the whole trip wortwhile.
Though it can get very tiring being so far away from home,
while sticking out like a sore thumb, I can proudly say
that these people are still very close to my heart,
despite the fact that we got on each others nerves somemtimes.

So, China, here we come!

First payment!

If my class wants to go to China we each have to sign a contract where we pledge to be on our best behavior during the trip. I am of course always very well behaved ;)
Anyways, we have handed in the contract so now we get to throw away a ton of money! Yay!
The first payment for the trip is coming up, and that means I have to part with my hard earned money, 8.000 DKK of them to be exact!
We make the first payment in June, and the second one in August. I'm gonna have to work my butt off during my vacation -_-'

But I guess it's worth it, 'cause the excitement is starting to hit me hard.
I sometimes find myself writing little notes with stuff I have to bring, or things I have to do when we land in Beijing. The part of the trip I'm looking most forward to is Shanghai. Seeing old friends from last year, revisiting sights and all that tourist fun :D

Cheers, and have a nice Monday!

First post!

So, here it comes, the obligatory first awkward post. Bear with me :)

I started this blog to keep check on all the thoughts I have during my oversea travels.
The idea came to me last year, when I traveled to China with my class for the first time.
It makes a bit sad that I never got to write down all the emotions I had during the trip, because there were MANY!

The first country I ever went to was the Philippines, where I have quite a lot of family. The culture shock was astounding, and I still haven't quite wrapped my head around that specific trip. I'm going to visit my family there during christmas, so hopefully I can upload some pictures :)

Before that though I'm going to China with my school again, where we'll visit Beijing, Xi'an, and Shanghai.
I am dying to go!!
But unfortunately I'll have to wait 'til August, just kill me now!

That's it for the first post, hope I didn't screw up too royally ^_^
